Well it’s the end of week 1 in our Mom Vs Mom Challenge…
and I’m THE WINNER!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so it’s only 2lbs and it’s only the first week of a long road…
HOWEVER I didn’t find the week overly tough. I used the My Fitness Pal app on my phone to keep track of my calories all week. I found that a great tool, especially when it came to snacks. Realizing just how many calories are in some of my favourite snacks was enough for me to stay away. I started in on a “is this worth the calories”? Usually the answer was no.
I did have lunch with a friend on Thursday and I decided to just splurge and eat what I wanted but I still did really well that day. Plus I think it’s nice to treat yourself on occasion. We went for sushi which isn’t really that bad either.
The big savior for me this week was my morning shakes. I am strange when it comes to breakfast. Many days I skip it and when I do eat, it’s usually a fried egg sandwich or a big bowl of cereal. Which reminds me, have you ever looked at the “serving size” on a box of cereal?? The one I have lists 1/4 of a cup. Um, ya, I’m usually dumping at least 5x that into my bowl. WOW! No more cereal.
So my shakes – I’ve been using my Juice+ Complete shake mix. At only 93 calories and low in sugar (organic cane sugar to boot!) it’s a great addition. A splash of milk, some frozen berries and spinach and I’m on my way. Super healthy and yummy too!
This week my goal is to add more vegetable variety to my shakes as I feel like I’m relying too much on the fruit. Also, to attempt some actual exercise. I tried running up and down my stairs and although I definitely had a good sweat going by the end, it was really hard on my knees. So this week I am going to set a goal to either swim laps or walk – at least 3 times. Christella set that for us last week but with my hubby away on business it didn’t really happen.
